Talking Of Guidelines For A Debt Collection Agency

By Robert Sutter

A number of rules are going to have to be considered when it comes to the work of a debt collection agency. I believe that there are so many to take into consideration and you can be certain that each of them play into the utmost quality of the work done. That being said, what are some of the greatest rules to take into account, you may wonder? There are many to take into account and they come together in order to bring the highest quality of work to the surface.

One of the rules to take into consideration when talking of a debt collection agency has to do with the hours of communication. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act has stated that only during the hours of 8 AM to 9 PM can collectors contact debtors for reasons related to their case. The fact that communication cannot be done outside of them goes to show how important the work in general is. This is just one of the rules, though, that are followed by agencies such as Rapid Recovery.

I think that there are a number of rules to consider when it comes to communication as well. This is the idea that is arguably the most typical, whether it comes to phone calls being made or emails being sent. However, the FDCPA states that only professional methods of speaking to one another are going to be taken into account. This means that postcards, for example, are not going to be put to use since they go against every rule that is listed in the act.

It's apparent that communication is going to be seen at a high level but what if there is a request for it to be stopped? Outside of litigation purposes, of course, a debtor can theoretically state that he or she does not want a collector to stay in contact. If this request is not honored, it goes against the various rules spoken about in the FDCPA. If it is followed, though, there is no question that the agency in question is going to prove to be that much greater.

When it comes to the work of a debt collection agency, it's clear that there are many other rules to follow. Each of them is important, as they are able to play into the strongest results seen in the long term. The question of which rule is the most important, though, is subjective and everyone is going to pick out a different one. In my mind, though, each of them play into the highest quality of work that is put forth by an agency of this caliber.
