Online degrees: Are they really easier than regular degrees?

By Jane Bernstein

One thing that you ought to note is that there is an overall disconnect that E Degree learning is less challenging than that of a regular in-person institution; but this is untrue. The reality is that you will learn from the same educational studies and curriculum that you would have taken in a traditional school setting, but instead, you will have them online.

In a lot of ways, the readiness, push, drive and the motivation of self-study are much harder to keep up with in an E Degree program.

If you are searching for a laid-back approach to get your degree, the online learning community is not necessarily for you; contrary to common perception. For instance, let's say that you join a 2 year associates degree program for a specific career field like nursing. Maybe you are a mother and already have a profession, and think that you can just get in a class here and there and end up getting your degree without a solid timeline.

Currently, as you are going through your current lifestyle, you will have take inventory to discover a place and time for the E Degree to fit in if you are seriously looking at the option of online classes. Following a long day of struggling with taking the kids here and there, getting groceries, etc... you have to make a decision. Do I want to go on for another hour and do my assignments or should I just go to sleep? If you do not have the sound reason and self motivation to complete your degree, you do not get anything out of it, and it can be a waste of money. You have to keep on the steady path throughout each day, each lecture, and each assignment.

Even if the work is no harder than in-person school work (which it wont be), you now have to hold onto and keep track of your own progress doing the work on your own, with no tutor or teacher forcing you to complete it daily. You do though, still have a remote teacher and areas to meet, but you do not have the rigid schedule of a lesson at 10 am day-to-day.

For some, the e-Degree may be a perfect situation way for you to get your tuition dollars worth. You should take all these things into consideration when doing your research on continuing education, and make sure that the lifestyle that an online degree offers is for you.
