Suggestions for Operating a Successful Fitness Business

By Vito La Fata

So, you want to open your business, but don't know where to start or what to focus on. Want a quick three-step process to make your life easier and your success looking good? Then use this three-step mission analysis to kick your business off on the right foot.

Growing and sustaining a business requires having the right tools as well as understanding how to make your business expand and continue to expand. You must get your mind right and realize that being successful does not stem from doing one big thing right. Rather, success comes from many small actions which, over time, lead to solid success.

Building a strong foundation is another step. If you will build a strong foundation in your business, you will be much more likely to succeed. The structure of your corporation should be laid out so that each team member has an idea of the roles and goals of the entire company. A strong foundation will help carry your business through to success.

Oftentimes businesses do not take this crucial step of having a good foundation, and it can cost them dearly in terms of growth and momentum. When things start to take off in your business, if you do not have a good structure in place, you and your revenue will suffer.

Another critical step in running a success business is to make sure that you take the time to identify all of the tasks and operations that cause your business to run. Once you have this figured out, make sure that all of your employees and team members know what their individual responsibilities are.

Coaching tip: If you have never read the book, "The E-Myth: Revisited" from Michael Gerber, it is a short excellent book that will go a long way in helping lay this foundation. List out each person currently on the team what their role is and how they see themselves fitting into the mission. If there is a role that still needs to be filled what is it? Do you have a job description for it yet? Getting this area straight will go a long way to improving your business.
