Savvy Tricks For Hiding Valuables From Burglars

By Mark Mahaffey

If you are interested in keeping your valuables safe in the event that a burglar makes his way inside your home, then you will want to know the best home security ideas for protecting your most treasured possessions.

Where you do not hide your valuable items is nearly as important as where you do hide them. There are some very common places that people have read about and like to think they are outsmarting the burglars by using these hiding places. But, the crooks usually know about those places too!

Some of the hiding spots that you should avoid are in the refrigerator, commode, food boxes in the pantry, and underneath the litter in the cat box. These are likely the places that a crook will look first, because they are popular hiding places.

The wise thing to do is to find hiding places different from the ones mentioned above. Just be as creative as possible when deciding where to store things. For instance, if you have a shed in your backyard, then you have the perfect hiding place! Just put a fake floor in and hide your things underneath it!

Your mattress is another hiding place. But do not hide things under the mattress; crooks know to look there. Rather, cut a hole in the side or on one end (the end nearest the head of the bed is best) and put your treasures inside. Then, simply sew up the hole. It is not likely that a robber will discover this hiding place!

It is worth taking all the time necessary to carefully think through the best places to hide your valuables. You may not be able to stop a crook from breaking into your home, but you can keep him from finding your valuables once he gets in!
