Every nanny for hire cannot land a decent job without taking the necessary precautions. The same goes for employers. They cannot expect to get a good nanny if they don't pursue a methodical and well-planned hiring process. There may be things that are only revealed in the end when hiring a nanny like compatibility and dependability. Yet, those who happen to pass the initial screening have a higher tendency to last. Here are the red flags not to miss.

Nanny Does not Establish Credible Reference checks

The first step in getting to know the reliability of the nanny is through references. Does she have them? Doe she refuses to give them? If she does provide, is it credible? All the answers rely on the employer's diligence to research. Get not just one reference, but many, in order to check for consistency and accuracy.

Nannies Aupair Hides an Authentic License or valid Government Records

Nannies that migrated overseas to work need legal documents as valid passport or a social security number. That's because illegal recruitment for overseas workers is very rampant. The nanny should be able to give her agent from the travel agency or a contact person in their local embassy.

Job experiences are all Short-Term

A nanny criminal background check is a verifiable method but sometimes there are other telling signs of suspicion. Investigate the past working experiences of the nanny. How long does it take for her to transfer to another job? Ask her the reasons also. The last step is to contact her previous employers and double check the information.

A nanny for hire surely offers many worthwhile benefits to the family; it's just about finding the right one. Exaggeration aside, there are more good nannies than bad ones. But there's still a chance of landing into the worst nanny. As a responsible employer, don't take on those chances, even if it's very slim.
