Find Out the Best Deal of the Day Sites to Visit

By Kathy Lee

Deal of the day sites have been around for since the mid 2000s. These sites gained popularity in 2004 and have continued to grow since then. These deal sites give retailers opportunities to market discounted products. Customers are informed of the deals mostly through emails and social networks. With these sites, you can get good deals that are pocket friendly.

Many merchants who are members of these sites view it as a platform to make popular their products and not a method of producing returns. Business people are given the capability to make known their products within a short period of time. It also helps them to establish a solid body of customers.

Groupon, which began in 2008, is one of the most popular among daily deal sites. The name is a combination of two words; group and coupon. For each deal, the site states the minimum number of orders that need to be received in order for the deal to be on. If that number is not met, then the deal is no good. Customers who bought the deal will receive their money back. Groupon offers discounts usually in the service sector like restaurants, spas, hotels, etc. In North America, it serves 100 markets and 150 in other continents including Asia, Europe and South America.

LivingSocial is a virtual industry which offers daily deals and discounts. It was started in 2007 and has become a very popular deal of the day site. Similar to Groupon, it offers deals to its members mostly in the service sector. Once a deal has been bought, customers are emailed their redemption coupons the next day. It also offers new clients leads at no charge to the traders. There is also a travel section called Escapes that offers discounts on travel.

Founded in 2005, MidnightBox gives a minimum of three product deals per day. Basically it deliberates on the most suitable discounts for its customers. It offers a variety of products - buyers can find electronics, housewares, jewelry, and much more for deals. Deals on MidnightBox are available for 24 hours or until the product sells out.

A major problem with this form of business is that a deal may attract too many buyers in a short amount of time. This risks customer fulfillment since the stock may fail to meet demand. Another problem is that sellers find it hard to get deal sites attracted to their discounted item. It is rated that seven out of every eight proposals are dismissed.

The best deal of the day sites to visit helps merchants - especially those with new products - build a loyal customer base in a short span of time. In addition they help in greatly reducing risks for sellers who treat coupons as discounts or sales promotion.
