Tips To Email Large Attachments

By Shari Swanson

Your work will probably require you to have to email large attachments. Personal uses for this also abound when you want to send a whole album containing photos of your recent trip or a video of your kid performing. There are various ways to enable sharing of bulky files online.

By now, you probably have discovered the restrictions online providers have set on file size. They usually allow only around twenty megabytes of worth of files for your messages. Fortunately, recent companies have added an option whereby you can send two gigabytes worth of documents. For additional security, some even offer password protection.

If your file still will not fit, then you can use file compression to reduce document size. There are free software which are available online. Send files in their compressed form so that you will not go over file limits and then the recipient can just unzip it.

File hosting sites also help in dealing with huge amounts of documents. Uploading is quick and easy. Just note the link which you can provide to your recipients so they can access the documents. It is usually free but you might prefer to be a paying member if you have a lot of files to send.

Online storage sites also offer a good alternative. You will be provided a personal storage site by registering and then you can upload the documents you like. Online storage makes it easy for users to access documents from anywhere. For better security and additional features, you can opt for paid membership.

There are also free software that can split your file into smaller sizes. Send each file in a separate message so that each will adhere to file size limits. Both the sender and the recipient will have to get this software so they can split and join the files as needed.

In every transaction where you need to email large attachments, there should be a fast connection. This is necessary if you need to handle a lot of data. Connections that are slow will only lead to problems with the sending.
